Rangers sign Joe Beimel
Mar 6, 2015 - 10:58 PM Surprise, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers signed left-handed pitcher Joe Beimel to a one-year contract on Friday.Beimel returned to the majors last season after a two-year absence and went 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 56 relief appearances with Seattle. He held left-handed hitters to a .188 batting average.
The 37-year-old Beimel had Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his left elbow in May 2012 and did not pitch in the majors in 2012-13.
He is 27-33 with a 4.07 ERA in 623 career games (23 starts) with the Pirates, Twins, Rays, Dodgers, Nationals, Rockies and Mariners.
