Saint fined for being drunk in public
Dec 10, 2016 - 5:38 AM Police have arrested St Kilda midfielder Luke Dunstan after the AFL player was found asleep in a public place. He was fined for being intoxicated in public early on Saturday morning.
The club gave no details of where the incident happened.
"Luke fell asleep in public, was detained in police lodgement for a few hours and subsequently given a fine on release," the Saints said in a statement.
They said he told the club immediately and co-operated with police.
The Saints are on leave this weekend as their pre-season training continues.
Football manager Jamie Cox said Dunstan was embarrassed and had apologised.
"Luke's a trusted young man of strong character and we're disappointed he has not met club expectations on this occasion," he said.
"This serves as a prescient reminder to our playing group of the importance of responsible consumption of alcohol."
Dunstan, 21, has played 53 AFL games since his 2014 debut.
