Als storm back to beat Ticats

Sep 7, 2014 - 9:37 PM Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Tanner Marsh ran for two touchdowns and the Montreal Alouettes stormed back to beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 38-31 on Sunday.

Jonathan Crompton passed for 206 yards with a touchdown for the Alouettes (3-7), who scored 28 straight points at one point in the second half to erase a 24-10 deficit.

"It's a good team in this locker room and I give all of the credit to them," Crompton said.

James Rodgers scored the go-ahead touchdown on an 83-yard punt return early in the fourth quarter for Montreal, which joined Toronto atop the East standings with its second consecutive win.

Marsh powered his way in from a yard out to make it 38-24 with 2:55 remaining.

Montreal recovered an onside kick to seal the victory after Hamilton quarterback Zach Collaros connected with Andy Fantuz for a second touchdown with 12 seconds to go.

Collaros, who returned from a concussion in last Monday's win against the Argonauts, completed 30-of-43 attempts for 338 yards with an interception for the Tiger-Cats (2-7).

Mossis Madu fumbled on the third play of the game and Montreal linebacker Winston Venable returned it 59 yards to the end zone for an early 7-0 Montreal lead.

Hamilton shook off the turnover and went on to score 17 first-quarter points.

Justin Medlock kicked a 47-yarder, Rico Murray returned a Crompton interception for a touchdown and Collaros found Fantuz for a 3-yard scoring strike to close out the frame.

The Ticats carried a 21-7 lead into halftime.

Montreal rallied in the third quarter, tying the game at 24-24. Marsh ran for a 1-yard touchdown and Crompton ended the third with a 10-yard scoring strike to Duron Carter.

"We gave them points in the second half and as a result, they gained momentum," said Hamilton head coach Kent Austin.
