Jackson, Lions lock up West title, defeat Tiger-Cats

Jan 9, 2008 - 6:03 PM HAMILTON, Ontario (Ticker) -- Jarious Jackson passed for 206 yards and two touchdowns as the B.C. Lions posted a 27-19 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday.

Jackson completed 13-of-17 attempts with one interception, and his backup, Dave Dickenson, was 7-of-10 for 124 yards and a score for B.C. (13-3-1), which clinched first place in the West Division.

The Lions, who had a 496-336 advantage in total yards, also sealed home-field advantage in the division final should they make it there.

Jackson got things rolling when he hit slotback Geroy Simon with a 36-yard TD strike at 9:30 of the first quarter, giving B.C. a 7-0 lead.

In the second period, Jackson completed a 16-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Paris Jackson with 5:07 left to double the Lions' advantage.

After an 11-yard touchdown pass from Hamilton backup Richie Williams to running back Terry Caulley and a single by the Tiger-Cats reduced their deficit to six, Paul McCallum kicked a 14-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, giving the Lions a 17-8 halftime lead.

Dickenson entered in the third quarter and threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jason Clermont to make it 24-8. Clermont had nine receptions for 152 yards and Simon caught five passes for 143 yards as both receivers surpassed 1,000 yards for the season.

Williams, who replaced Casey Printers in the first half after Printers injured his throwing hand, was 16-of-30 for 172 yards and two touchdowns for Hamilton (2-15), which has lost five straight.
