'Chrome' has Arlington Million next on docket
Jun 22, 2015 - 2:09 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Reigning Horse of the Year California Chrome is heading back to the United States after failing to race at Royal Ascot in England.The 4-year-old colt suffered a hoof injury preventing him to start in any of the stakes offered at Ascot after finishing second in the $10 million Dubai World Cup on March 28.
California Chrome is now being pointed to the Arlington Million on Aug. 15. The 1 1/4-mile Million will be the colt's second race on turf having finished his 3-year-old season by winning the Hollywood Derby at Del Mar on grass.
The champion colt began the year with a runner-up result behind Shared Belief in Santa Anita's San Antonio.
