Final/10
Dodgers edge Braves in 10 innings
Sep 4, 2011 - 4:53 AM Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Juan Rivera's sacrifice fly scored Dee Gordon in the 10th inning, boosting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 2-1 win over the Braves.A.J. Ellis homered in the second inning off Mike Minor, while Atlanta's lone run came in the bottom half of the same frame on Dan Uggla's blast to left- center field off Nathan Eovaldi.
The Dodgers, who have won a season-best six in a row and 11 of their last 12 games, pushed a run across against Anthony Varvaro (0-1).
Gordon doubled to center field and moved to third on a bunt from James Loney. After Matt Kemp was intentionally walked, Rivera's fly to center sent Gordon to the plate well ahead of the throw home.
Mike MacDougal (2-1) escaped a jam with two runners on base in the ninth and Javy Guerra retired the side in order in the 10th for his 15th save.
"I don't think we've changed anything, we're just playing together and the game started and we're just finding a way to win instead of just barely losing," MacDougal said. "We're just finding a way to win. They've all been fairly close and we've been coming up on top."
The NL wild card-leading Braves went hitless in seven opportunities with men in scoring position and lost for the fourth time in six games.
"Our bullpen and their bullpen matched us all the way with zeros all the way to the end," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "We didn't get the hit or the bloop when we needed to. So that's just the way it goes sometimes."
The Dodgers put men on the corners with one out in the eighth inning, but Rivera and Russ Mitchell struck out.
In the ninth, Jose Constanza singled with two outs and MacDougal then relieved Hong-Chih Kuo, but allowed a base hit to Alex Gonzalez. Pinch-hitter Brooks Conrad was caught looking at strike three.
