Crawford's blast lifts Dodgers past Marlins in 11 innings

May 4, 2014 - 7:42 AM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Carl Crawford belted a two-run home run in the 11th inning on Saturday to power the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-7 win over the Miami Marlins.

Juan Uribe walked to leadoff the 11th and Crawford then hit his first homer of the season at the right time. Carlos Marmol (0-2) worked out of the inning after allowing the homer but suffered the loss.

Dee Gordon went 5-for-6 with three stolen bases and two RBI, while Yasiel Puig had a three-run blast for the Dodgers, who have won five of seven.

"You can't ask a whole lot more of him," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said of Gordon.

Dodgers starter Paul Maholm scattered nine hits over six frames, allowing three runs. Brandon League (1-1) earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings in relief.

Marcel Ozuna hit a three-run blast and Jeff Mathis and Jeff Baker each added a solo home run for Miami, which saw starter Jacob Turner get knocked around for six runs on nine hits over four innings.

"It just shows you the fight that those guys have," said Marlins manager Mike Redmond. "Nobody is in there giving up, guys keep battling and putting good at-bats together. I don't think anybody felt like we were out of that game."

Trailing 7-6, Casey McGehee doubled to leadoff the bottom of the ninth. A batter later, Garrett Jones walked before a single by Baker loaded the bases. Pinch-hitter Jarrod Saltalamacchia was then walked by Chris Perez, which brought in a run and knotted the game at seven.

Despite facing a 7-3 deficit to start the seventh, Miami got back into the game when Brian Wilson took over for Maholm. Wilson recorded the first out then plunked Adeiny Hechavarria and walked Giancarlo Stanton. After McGehee was retired for the second out of the inning, Ozuna smacked a three-run homer into the Dodgers bullpen, cutting the deficit to 7-6.

Earlier, the Dodgers got on the board in the top of the second when Uribe poked an RBI single to right center. Matt Kemp doubled and reached third on a groundout before Uribe's single.

In the home half of the second, Baker drove a 3-2 fastball from Maholm into the left-field bleachers to knot the game at 1-1.

Los Angeles went back ahead its next chance. Gordon singled, reached second on a groundout and was driven in by Hanley Ramirez on a single up the middle.

Miami responded when Hechavarria scored on an RBI double by McGehee in the home half of the third.

Uribe and Miguel Olivo hit back-to-back singles before a sacrifice bunt moved them into scoring position. Uribe scored on a Gordon single, then Puig crushed a flat curveball for a three-run bomb to left that staked the Dodgers to a 6-2 lead after four.

Los Angeles extended its lead to 7-2 on Gordon's RBI single in the sixth.

Mathis brought the Marlins a run closer with a solo blast in the sixth to make the margin 7-3 after six.
