Chirinos leads Rangers past Dodgers

Jun 17, 2015 - 5:55 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Robinson Chirinos led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run to give the Texas Rangers a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Chirinos got a hold of the third pitch he saw from Josh Ravin (2-1) and put it over the wall in left-center for the win.

Prince Fielder and Joey Gallo also drove in run for the Rangers, who won the first two games of this home-and-home set that will see the next two contests in Los Angeles.

Chi Chi Gonzalez lasted 8 1/3 innings for Texas and was charged with two runs on five hits. Shawn Tolleson (2-1) got the final two outs of the top of the ninth for the win.

"Every outing I want to go out there and compete and throw zeros," said Gonzalez. "Everybody in the big leagues is good and I surprise myself that I'm doing it, but I want to stay humble."

Justin Turner hit a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth for the Dodgers, who have lost three of their last four. Brett Anderson allowed two runs on eight hits over eight innings in the start.

"This game is humbling at times," said Los Angeles catcher Yasmani Grandal. "We played a good game tonight, just came up a little short."

Texas put up a run in the first inning as Fielder led off with a walk and singles from Kyle Blanks and Mitch Moreland loaded the bases for Gallo, who walked to force home Fielder. Chirinos flied out to end the frame.

The Rangers added another run in the fifth as Hanser Alberto singled with one out, moved to third on Elvis Andrus' single and came home on a Fielder base hit for a 2-0 lead.

Los Angeles didn't get a runner across second against Gonzalez through the first eight innings, and Gonzalez got the first out of the ninth before walking Howie Kendrick. Turner then blasted a shot into the stands in left field to tie the game.
