Former MLB pitcher Matt Kinney suspended for drugs

Aug 24, 2010 - 9:01 PM NEW YORK (AP) -- Former major league pitcher Matt Kinney and a minor leaguer in the New York Mets' system have been suspended 50 games for drug violations.

They were penalized Tuesday under the minor league drug program after testing positive for amphetamines.

The 33-year-old Kinney last pitched in the majors in 2005 with San Francisco. He is playing with the Giants' Triple-A team in Fresno.

Mets minor league pitcher Lachlan Hodge is at rookie level Kingsport.

The suspensions take effect immediately and end their seasons.
