Wigginton's go-ahead double lifts Rockies over Pirates

Seth Smith hit a solo homer for the Rockies, who bounced back from Friday's 14-inning loss. Carlos Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Greg Reynolds, making his first start of 2011 in place of the injured Ubaldo Jimenez, gave up two runs on three hits over six innings. Matt Belisle (1-0) got the win for recording the final two outs in the seventh.
"I was really pleased with Greg Reynolds after tonight," said Rockies manager Jim Tracy. "As he got into, like, the third inning, once he got his feet up underneath him, he picked up his tempo. But he did a terrific job."
Ryan Doumit hit a two-run homer for the Pirates, who got a solo homer from Jose Tabata. Matt Diaz also drove in a run.
Charlie Morton allowed three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and five walks over a seven-inning start. Jose Veras (0-1) gave up Wigginton's double to suffer the loss.
"He's got top-of-the-rotation stuff. It's no secret," Doumit said of Morton. "All he needs to do is trust himself. I'm starting to see that."
With the score tied at 3-3, Veras started the top of the eighth inning on the mound for the Pirates. Jonathan Herrera led off with a walk and Gonzalez singled. Troy Tulowitzki and Smith both struck out before Jose Lopez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Wigginton then hit a liner down the left field line to clear the bases.
Tabata's solo shot to center in the home eighth cut the gap to 6-4, but Matt Lindstrom closed the game out in the ninth for his first save.
The Rockies got on the board in the first. Dexter Fowler walked, stole second, advanced to third on Doumit's throwing error and scored when Gonzalez grounded into a double play.
Doumit's blast put the Pirates ahead in the second. Lyle Overbay led off with a double and crossed the plate two batters later on Doumit's homer over the wall in center.
Colorado scored a run in the third to make it a 2-2 game. With two outs, Fowler walked and Herrera singled, and Gonzalez followed with an RBI single to center.
The Rockies had a chance to take the lead in the fifth. With men on first and second and two outs, Gonzalez singled to right. But Jose Morales, who started the frame with a walk, was thrown out at the plate by right fielder Garrett Jones.
Smith's solo homer to right-center field in the sixth gave Colorado a 3-2 edge.
The Pirates tied the game in the seventh. Matt Reynolds started the frame on the mound for Colorado and gave up a one-out double to Doumit, leading to Belisle being called in from the bullpen. Diaz came on as a pinch-hitter and singled to right to score Ronny Cedeno, who entered as a pinch-runner for Doumit. Belisle retired the next two batters to keep it a tie game.
