White Sox try to add to Rays' early season struggles

After picking up their first win of the season on Friday, Tampa's offensive struggles resurfaced on Saturday, as Philip Humber tossed six innings of one- run ball in Chicago's 4-2 triumph. A.J. Pierzynski drove in two runs, while Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel each had an RBI for the White Sox, who have won three of four and have led in all eight of their games this season.
Humber (1-0), making his third big league start, gave up four hits and struck out four to pick up the win. Chris Sale picked up his first save despite giving up a solo homer to Felipe Lopez in the ninth.
"I didn't shake [catcher] A.J. [Pierzynski] off but once or twice," Humber said.
Ben Zobrist knocked in a run for the Rays, who are off to a 1-7 start to the year.
Wade Davis (0-2) went six innings in the start, allowing two runs on five hits to suffer the loss. He also walked three and fanned four.
Gavin Floyd will take the hill for the White Sox this afternoon. The right- hander did not get a decision on Wednesday in Kansas City, as he allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings. He also struck out five and walked a pair in his team's 7-6 loss.
"If you could put zeros up immediately, it would be nice," Floyd said. "I was able to bounce back, make it a somewhat respectable outing and keep us in the game."
Floyd has faced the Rays three times and is 2-1 against them with a 3.43 ERA.
Tampa, meanwhile, will counter with right-hander Jeff Niemann, who was hit hard in losing to the Angels on Wednesday. Niemann surrendered five runs and nine hits in six innings of that one.
"I've had some good days on the side where I made some adjustments," said Niemann. "I'm feeling good and ready to get back out there."
Tampa Bay was 4-3 against the White Sox last season.
