D-Backs get to Oswalt, beat Phillies

Apr 27, 2011 - 7:14 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Ryan Roberts homered and drove in a pair, and Arizona starter Daniel Hudson earned his first win of the season in a 7-5 decision over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Hudson (1-4) scattered 10 hits and three runs over six frames for the Diamondbacks, who had lost four in a row before winning the first two meetings of this three-game set.

Roy Oswalt (3-1) lasted just three innings for the Phillies, as he was charged with five runs on six hits and a walk to take the loss.

Philadelphia was blanked by Ian Kennedy in Monday's 4-0 loss, but scored in its first at-bat on Tuesday when Shane Victorino led off with a triple and trotted home when Placido Polanco singled under Roberts' glove at third.

Hudson stranded runners on second and third in the opening frame, and came through at the plate in the second inning with a two-run double over Ben Francisco's head in right field. Gerardo Parra drove in a run prior to the go- ahead hit.

Ryan Howard halved the deficit with a run-scoring single in the third, but Stephen Drew and Roberts each drove in a run in the bottom half for a 5-2 advantage.

Ross Gload got the Phillies closer with a pinch-hit, RBI single in the sixth, though Roberts' shot off Mike Zagurski in the home turn got the run back.

Justin Upton's broken-bat single in the seventh scored Kelly Johnson for an insurance run in the seventh.

Francisco's two-run homer off David Hernandez in the ninth accounted for the final margin.

Game Notes

Howard had three of the 12 hits for the Phillies, who stranded 10 runners...Johnson had two steals for Arizona...The Phillies are still two wins shy of tying the club mark for wins in the first month of a season (17 in 1993)...Oswalt, who was bothered by a balky back last week, had won his previous 10 decisions dating back to last season.
