Nationals, Orioles wrap up set at Camden Yards

May 22, 2011 - 2:44 PM (Sports Network) - The final installment of this weekend's Beltway Series will take place this afternoon when the Baltimore Orioles host the Washington Nationals at Camden Yards.

Taking the hill for the Nationals will be Jordan Zimmerman. Zimmerman has pitched well in the month of May, but has just one win to show for his efforts in three outings.

The last time the southpaw was on the mound he held Atlanta to just three runs on five hits and struck out 11 batters, but despite his performance the Nationals still fell to the Braves.

This will be just the second start for Zimmerman against the O's and in his only other outing against Baltimore he surrendered just two runs in seven innings and struck out seven batters, but did not factor in the decision.

The Orioles have a talent crop of young arms in their rotation and one of those pitchers is Chris Tillman. Tillman scuffled to start the year, but like any young pitcher with talent they learn as the season progresses.

The last time Tillman was on the hill he shut down the Red Sox for five innings, scattering five hits, while striking out two batters.

This will be the first start against Washington for the 23-year-old, but the fourth start at home for the young hurler this season. In his three previous outings at Camden Yards the right-hander is just 1-1 with a 4.15 earned run average.

On Saturday, Nolan Reimold smacked a two-run homer to back seven strong innings from Jeremy Guthrie as Baltimore posted an 8-3 victory over Washington.

The O's were rocked by the Nats, 17-5, in Friday's series opener.

Guthrie (2-6) earned his first home win of the season by allowing two unearned runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts, as Baltimore snapped a four-game losing streak.

Prior to Saturday's game, the Orioles had not scored a single run while Guthrie was on the mound in his previous three starts. He had received the worst run support of any starter in the American League with 1.70 runs per game.

John Lannan (2-5) went six-plus innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk while fanning six in the Nationals' third loss in four games.

With the victory the Orioles now own a 9-5 edge over Washington over the past two seasons.
