Moyer, Santana face off in Colorado

Apr 29, 2012 - 2:09 PM (Sports Network) - Lefty Jamie Moyer makes the 633rd start of his major-league career - and 25th against the New York Mets - when the Colorado Rockies host them in the finale of a three-game series at Coors Field.

The 49-year-old Moyer became the oldest pitcher to win a game on April 17 against San Diego, when he won for the 268th time with a 5-3 decision after allowing two unearned runs in seven innings.

He's made one appearance since and got a no-decision after pitching six innings of six-hit ball with three strikeouts in the Rockies' 5-4 loss at Pittsburgh.

Moyer is 9-6 with a 3.97 earned run average in 24 appearances against the Mets over 149 2/3 innings.

Another lefty, Johan Santana, goes after his first victory since 2010 in his fifth start of the season for New York.

The Venezuelan won 13 games in 2009 and 11 more in 2010, then underwent shoulder surgery and missed the entire 2011 season.

He's lasted more than five innings just once in four starts in 2012, combining to give up 14 hits and eight runs in 18 innings with 24 strikeouts and eight walks.

Santana has won both career starts against the Rockies and has yet to give up a run. He's thrown 16 innings of eight-hit ball with three walks and 18 strikeouts.

On Saturday, Lucas Duda smacked a two-run homer and drove in four runs, while David Wright registered three hits to go with two runs batted in and a pair of runs scored in the Mets' 7-5 win.

Ruben Tejada tallied three hits and scored twice for the Mets, who have won four of their past five games.

Dillon Gee (2-2) picked up the win after allowing four runs - three earned - on seven hits and two walks over seven innings and Frank Francisco worked around a Dexter Fowler solo shot in the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the season.

Guillermo Moscoso (0-1) was touched for six runs on nine hits and one walk in a five-inning start for Colorado.

Colorado was 5-2 against the Mets last season.
