Rockies seek third straight win vs. rival Giants

May 19, 2008 - 1:49 PM San Francisco (17-28) at Colorado (17-27) 8:35 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) - The Colorado Rockies aim for a third straight win on Monday when they host their National League West rival San Francisco Giants in the opener of a three-game series.

Jeff Francis threw 6 1/3 effective innings and Todd Helton homered and drove in three runs as the Rockies posted a 6-2 victory over Minnesota on Sunday.

Colorado has struggled mightily this season, and the main reason has been its pitching. Francis won 17 games last season, but Sunday marked his first win this campaign.

Jorge De La Rosa (1-2, 9.42 ERA) is part of the problem. The lefthander has been a burden on the Rockies' bullpen in his three starts since being acquired from Kansas City on April 30. De La Rosa has allowed 15 runs and 21 hits in 14 1/3 innings.

De La Rosa will try and turn his season around against the Giants, who have lost five straight. Bengie Molina, Jose Castillo and Ray Durham each drove in a pair of runs in a 13-8 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

Pat Misch (0-0, 5.32) turned in a solid performance his last time out, but is still in search of his first career win. The lefthander allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings of a 6-3 loss to Houston on Wednesday.
