Burres looking to continue success vs. Yankees
May 27, 2008 - 11:36 AM NY Yankees (25-26) at Baltimore (25-25) 7:05 pm EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) - Brian Burres tries to continue his dominance against the New York Yankees when he takes the mound for the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.
Burres (4-4, 3.16 ERA) is 1-0 with a 0.68 ERA in two starts against the Yankees this season and is facing the American League East rivals for the second time in less than a week.
The 27-year-old lefthander allowed just one run and six hits while striking out five in 7 2/3 innings on Thursday. Burres did not factor in the decision, however, as the Orioles suffered a 2-1 setback against New York.
Baltimore is seeking its second straight win on Tuesday after snapping a five-game slide with a 6-1 victory over the Yankees during the opener of the three-game series on Monday.
Ian Kennedy (0-3, 7.27) looks to build on the momentum of a strong start his last time out when he toes the rubber for New York on Tuesday.
Kennedy surrendered only one run and four hits on Thursday, walking four while striking out four in the no decision.
The start was a vast improvement considering the 23-year-old righthander gave up 16 runs over his previous 17 1/3 innings.
