Jones' big 4th quarter leads Pacers over T-Wolves

Feb 12, 2011 - 3:34 AM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Dahntay Jones scored all of his season- high 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead surging Indiana to a 116-105 come-from-behind win over Minnesota at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Jones connected on 6-of-7 from the floor, including both three-point attempts, while Danny Granger supplied 19 points and six rebounds for the Pacers, who have won six out of seven under interim head coach Frank Vogel.

"I praise our point guards in getting the ball to me in a way that I could score," Jones said. "I just took the open shot and felt pretty good when it was released. We had to be scrappy for the whole game and we were extremely scrappy and tough in the fourth quarter."

Mike Dunleavy added 15 points, Tyler Hansbrough chipped in 14, and Josh McRoberts contributed 12 for Indiana, which has won five in a row at home.

Kevin Love totaled 22 points and 15 rebounds for his 39th straight double- double, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Timberwolves from falling to 4-24 on the road.

Nikola Pekovic tied a career high with 15 points and brought down six boards, while Wayne Ellington and Lazar Hayward provided 14 points apiece in the loss.

Minnesota opened the third quarter with a quick 8-1 burst to take a 66-57 lead, its largest of the game. The Pacers pulled within one on two different occasions before the Wolves scored the final five points of the quarter to grab a 90-83 edge going into the final stanza.

Two Jones foul shots and a jumper capped a 14-4 surge and gave the Pacers their first lead of the second half, 97-94, with 8:08 to play in the game.

Minnesota drew to within 104-103 with 4:16 to go on a Hayward layup before Jones hit two triples to extend the margin to 110-103 with 2:25 left to play.

"Obviously, we couldn't get stops in the fourth quarter," Minnesota head coach Kurt Rambis said. "I didn't do enough to help my team with stopping Jones. I should have done better things to find ways to get stops to take him out of the ball game. He just had an amazing night."

Trailing by that same seven with just under a minute to go, the Wolves last best chance to make a comeback ended when Ellington's three-point try spun out of the bucket. Jones, Darren Collison and Granger then combined to hit five free throws to secure the victory.

The Pacers built a 20-12 lead 20 halfway through the first quarter behind 14 from Dunleavy before the Wolves went on a 13-4 run to take a 31-28 lead. Paul George's three-point heave to beat the buzzer evened the score after 12 minutes.

The teams were never separated by more than four points in the second quarter as the lead swung back and forth before Jonny Flynn's floater in the final ten seconds gave the Wolves a 58-56 lead at the intermission.

Granger made 7-of-12 shots while McRoberts sank 6-of-9...George chipped in with 11 points off the bench while Collison ended with eight points, six assists and five caroms in the win, the Pacers 14th in their last 17 home dates with Minnesota...Pekovic connected on 6-of-9 from the floor while Love and Ellington made only 6-of-15...Corey Brewer added 12 points in defeat...The Wolves played without forwards Michael Beasley (sprained left ankle) and Darko Milicic (strained left hip flexor).
