Nets finish tour of Sunshine State in Miami

Nov 6, 2010 - 2:43 PM (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets finish a tough, two-day tour of the Sunshine State Saturday when they visit a star-studded Miami Heat team coming off a loss.

The Nets fell in Orlando last night when Dwight Howard dominated in the paint with 30 points and 16 rebounds, pacing the Magic to a 105-90 win over New Jersey.

Travis Outlaw scored 17 for New Jersey, which wasted a double-digit lead in the second quarter of its road opener. Terrence Williams had 15 points, Devin Harris 14 and Kris Humphries 13 for the Nets, who have lost 11 straight as the visitor dating back to last season.

The team's leading scorer, center Brook Lopez, missed his first 13 shots in the contest and finished with 10 points.

"It was a tough night for a lot of guys," Harris said. "Some nights you have games like these so we'll learn from it."

The Heat, meanwhile, lost for the second time this season in New Orleans on Friday. Emeka Okafor had his way on the inside to the tune of 26 points and 13 rebounds, and Trevor Ariza hit a big three- pointer in the waning seconds in that one to lead the Hornets to a 96-93 win over Miami.

Dwyane Wade finished with a game-high 28 points with 10 rebounds but turned the ball over seven times in the loss, the Heat's first in five games. LeBron James, who was playing with a balky right shin, stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, 10 assists and seven boards, while Chris Bosh scored 15 points but grabbed only one rebound.

"They came out with a lot of energy," Wade said. "They jumped on us and that caused us to play from behind the whole game. That's not the game we want to play."

Miami, which is 2-0 at home this season, has won five straight and eight of its past nine meetings with the Nets, including a 101-78 rout on Halloween in the Prudential Center.
