Final
Raptors finish road trip in Portland
Nov 6, 2010 - 2:45 PM (Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors conclude a grueling four-game west coast road trip, hoping to salvage the finale tonight when they take on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden. The Raptors fell to 0-3 on the trek last night in Los Angeles, falling to the defending champion Lakers, 108-103. Pau Gasol scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 23 points and six assists in that one as the Lakers improved to 6-0.
Leandro Barbosa scored 17 points off the bench and Amir Johnson contributed 12 points and a career-best 15 rebounds in reserve for the Raptors, who have lost the three in a row after their only victory last Friday against Cleveland.
Jose Calderon scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and added eight assists, while DeMar DeRozan scored 15 points and Reggie Evans pulled down 14 rebounds in defeat.
"We were right there but we just couldn't execute," a dejected DeRozan said "This was a challenge playing against Kobe and the Lakers and I had fun doing so tonight."
Portland, meanwhile, is coming off a touch overtime loss to Oklahoma City on Thursday. James Harden's three-point play midway through the extra frame gave the Thunder the lead in that one, and Oklahoma City held the Trail Blazers to just one field goal in the extra session to steal a 107-106 decision at the Rose Garden.
Portland, coming off a successful 3-1 road trip, led by as many as 13 in the second half but shot 1-for-7 in overtime to come out on the losing end. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Trail Blazers with 22 points, while Brandon Roy scored 19 on 6-of-17 shooting.
"We let them off the hook. We had a double-digit lead in the third quarter and it slipped through our hands," Blazers center Marcus Camby said.
The Blazers, who are already thin in the frontcourt as both Greg Oden and Joel Pryzbilla recover from knee surgery, got more bad news before the game when center Fabricio Oberto abruptly retired due to a cardiac condition that causes heart palpitations.
Portland has swept the home-and-home series over the Raptors in both of the past two seasons.
