Lee returns to MSG as Warriors visit Knicks

Nov 10, 2010 - 4:05 PM (Sports Network) - David Lee and the Golden State Warriors invade New York's Madison Square Garden tonight to take on the hosting Knicks.

Lee, of course, was acquired by the Warriors in a sign-and-trade deal from New York over the summer. Lee has averaged a double-double three of the past four seasons and put up a career-high 20.2 points to go with 11.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 81 games for the Knicks during the 2009-10 campaign.

So far he's led his new team to a 5-2 mark and helped Golden State improve to 1-1 on a five-game road trip with Monday's 109-102 victory at Toronto. Lee had 14 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out, while Stephen Curry led all scorers with 34 points and Monta Ellis added 28.

Curry scored 16 of his points in the fourth quarter for Golden State, which recovered from a 102-97 setback at Detroit on Sunday in the opener of the road swing. The Warriors will also visit Chicago and Milwaukee on the excursion, but may not have Ellis for tonight. Ellis suffered a strained back late in the fourth quarter against the Raptors and is doubtful for tonight.

Ellis leads the NBA in scoring at 27.9 points per contest.

New York has dropped two in a row since winning two straight and suffered a 107-80 loss at Milwaukee last night.

Amare Stoudemire scored 19 points and Wilson Chandler provided 11 for the Knicks, who got 10 points and eight assists from Raymond Felton.

"They got into us in the middle of the first quarter and they took us completely out of the game," Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni said.

The Knicks made only 37.8 percent of their shots and were coming off a home loss to Philadelphia on Sunday. On the injury front for New York, forward Ronny Turiaf is questionable for this evening because of a sprained left knee.

Golden State swept a home-and-home series with New York last season and has won three straight and 13 of the past 16 meetings between the clubs.
