Blazers pay a visit to Grizzlies

Nov 16, 2010 - 4:07 PM (Sports Network) - Two teams hoping to end losing streaks get together tonight in Memphis, where the Grizzlies play host to the Portland Trail Blazers at FedEx Forum.

Memphis is mired in a three-game losing streak, while the Blazers have dropped back-to-back games.

The Grizzlies suffered an 89-72 loss at Orlando last night, as Marc Gasol ended with 14 points and eight rebounds in defeat. O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley scored 11 points apiece for the Grizz, who are 2-6 in their last eight games and shot 36.3 percent from the field.

"It just wasn't our night," said Memphis' Rudy Gay, who ended with nine points and nine boards. "We had open shots, they just didn't go in. Sometimes that happens."

Portland is hoping to avoid a third straight loss when it closes out a three- game road trip this evening, and may not have All-Star guard Brandon Roy. Roy is doubtful for Tuesday's game with a sore left knee and leads the team with 18.1 points per game.

In Saturday's 107-87 loss to the New Orleans Hornets, Roy played less than 23 minutes and scored just two points on 1-of-7 shooting.

"He told me his knee was sore, and he needed to be pulled," said Blazers coach Nate McMillan. "He'll be evaluated and we'll wait and see what happens."

Nicolas Batum scored 16 points, while Andre Miller and Wesley Matthews netted 14 points apiece for the Trail Blazers, who have dropped five of eight games since opening the season with three straight wins.

The Blazers and Grizzlies split four meetings a year ago, with each team winning as the guest. Portland has won nine of the last 11 matchups with Memphis, which has dropped seven in a row at home in this series.
