Jazz make a stop at the Clippers

Nov 28, 2010 - 4:00 PM (Sports Network) - Two teams on opposite ends of the NBA spectrum get together this afternoon in Hollywood, as the Utah Jazz pay a visit to the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

The Jazz have ripped off four straight wins and defeated the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers at home on Friday. Deron Williams scored 29 points and hit a key three-pointer down the stretch in the team's third straight home win. Williams also handed out 12 assists.

Al Jefferson recorded 20 points with eight rebounds for Utah, which overcame a 19-point deficit and closed the game on an 11-0 burst. The Jazz held on despite Kobe Bryant's 14 straight points at one moment in the fourth quarter.

"It looked pretty bleak out there in the early part of the ballgame when they got out to a pretty good lead on us," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan told NBA.com "Again, our second group came in and gave us a tremendous lift. They got the fans behind us. Their energy jumped up a great deal."

Sloan's team will need its energy tonight on the road where it has won five straight and owns a 6-2 mark this season.

Los Angeles had its season-high two-game winning streak come to an end with Friday's 116-108 loss at Phoenix, as Eric Gordon scored a game-best 32 points and handed out six assists.

"They were in a rhythm," said Gordon, who has scored 20-plus points in 11 of his last 12 games. "When we got back in the game, they pushed it back up to 18 and we just went right back at them. We played pretty good defense for a stretch and knocked down a lot of shots but we just have to be consistent defensively.

Gordon also has three 30-plus point performance this season. Blake Griffin had a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Ryan Gomes recorded 20 points in defeat. Griffin is averaging 28.3 points, 14.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in the last four games, while shooting 50.6 percent (39-of-77) from the floor.

Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe left the loss to the Suns with an ankle injury and could miss today's game versus Utah. Guard Baron Davis (knee) is listed as questionable for today. LA is 3-6 as the host this season.

Utah defeated the Clippers, 109-107, in double overtime on Nov. 6 this season in Salt Lake City and is 14-4 in the last 18 meetings in this series. The Jazz, however, have dropped seven of 11 games at the Clippers.
