Magic go for sixth straight win at Detroit
Dec 3, 2010 - 4:09 PM (Sports Network) - The streaking Orlando Magic shoot for their sixth straight win tonight when they visit The Palace to take on the Detroit Pistons. The Magic continued to roll by opening up a three-game road trip through the Midwest by routing Chicago 107-78 on Wednesday. Jameer Nelson scored a game- high 24 points and handed out nine assists, while Vince Carter provided 22 points and six rebounds in that one as Orlando spoiled the season debut of Carlos Boozer.
Dwight Howard added 13 points and 12 rebounds and Rashard Lewis chipped in 13 points for the Magic, who have won nine of 10 overall.
"I just wanted to come out and set the tone for the team," Carter said. "A lot of people look at it as scoring all the time but it's more me being aggressive and that's what I wanted to do."
Orlando, which is 5-2 on the road, will finish its trek in Milwaukee on Saturday.
The Pistons, meanwhile, came up empty during a two-day tour of The Sunshine State, first losing to the Magic, 90-79, in central Florida before following that up by getting routed by Miami on Wednesday in their most recent encounter. LeBron James scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in that one, as the Heat manhandled Detroit, 97-72.
Greg Monroe finished with 15 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Pistons, who have lost three in a row and seven of nine overall. Charlie Villanueva tallied 10 points and six boards in a reserve role. Detroit has struggled to a 2-9 record away from The Palace this season.
"It (lack of energy) showed out there," Villanueva said. "We couldn't make any shots. We let our offense dictate our defense. It just wasn't there tonight."
Orlando has taken four consecutive meetings with the Pistons after dropping the previous four in the series.
