Celtics surge into Charlotte

Dec 11, 2010 - 4:10 PM (Sports Network) - The streaking Boston Celtics take aim at their 10th straight win when they continue a three-game road trip tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Boston opened its trek with a thrilling 102-101 victory at Philadelphia on Thursday, as Kevin Garnett's layup with 1.4 seconds remaining lifted the Celtics to their ninth straight win.

Garnett had 14 points and six rebounds, Ray Allen poured in 23 points and Rajon Rondo finished with 19 points and 14 assists for the Celtics, who have won four in a row on the road and improved to 8-3 as the guest this season.

The Celtics will close out the road swing in New York next Wednesday. Center Shaquille O'Neal didn't play due to a balky calf and is listed as questionable for tonight.

"I keep saying that it's going to be scary when we get healthy. If we continue to win with the bodies that we're putting out there -- I really can't wait for February and March when we're healthy," Boston's Paul Pierce told NBA.com. "We have to grind these wins out like we did tonight."

Charlotte has alternated wins and losses through five games this month and is coming off Friday's 100-92 loss at Indiana.

Gerald Wallace led the way with 26 points and 13 boards for the Bobcats, who dropped their sixth in a row on the road. Stephen Jackson had 15 points and eight assists in defeat.

"I got cold in the second half. I couldn't hit a shot," Jackson said. "But we stayed in the game for the most part. The better team made plays."

The Bobcats will also host Toronto and has won three in a row at home. In injury news, forward Tyrus Thomas didn't play Friday because of a quadriceps injury and is questionable for tonight.

Boston took all three meetings with the Bobcats a season ago and has won four straight and 12 of the past 16 matchups between the teams. The C's have won seven of the 10 encounters at Charlotte.
