Sizzling Heat aim for 12th straight win vs. Wizards

Dec 18, 2010 - 3:48 PM (Sports Network) - The streaking Miami Heat aim for their 12th consecutive win tonight when they face off with the struggling Washington Wizards in the nation's capital.

LeBron James put on another show at Madison Square Garden last night, posting a triple-double of 32 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the sizzling Heat past the New York Knicks, 113-91.

Having a big game in New York is nothing new for James, the owner of two 50- point performances at the Garden. Friday marked his first triple-double at the historic venue in his first game there since spurning the Knicks along with his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, in favor of joining the Heat this offseason.

The effort, James' 30th career triple-double and second of the season, helped Miami take its 11th consecutive win, the team's longest streak since the 2004-05 season. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh each finished with 26 points for the Heat.

"It's a great building," James said. "Myself and D-Wade talk about it all the time that there's certain buildings in this league that you get excited about. This being the Mecca of basketball -- as a kid, you always envision playing in the NBA, but also having the chance to play in Madison Square Garden."

The lowly Wizards, meanwhile, will be trying to snap a six-game losing streak tonight in the opener of a three-game homestand.

The Wizards, who will also face Charlotte and Chicago on their residency, lost for the 10th time in 11 games on Thursday when Devin Harris scored 29 points and handed out nine assists, as the New Jersey Nets downed the Washington, 97-89, to snap an eight-game losing streak of their own.

Nick Young scored 22 points and Gilbert Arenas added 19 points and nine helpers for the Wizards, who fell to an NBA-worst 0-13 as the visitor this season. Al Thornton tallied 18 points for Washington

"The energy we came out with in the second half is the energy we should have started with," said Wizards center JaVale McGee. "We probably would have won by like 11 or 12."

The Wizards played without the services of rookie guard John Wall for the second straight game against the Nets due to a right knee injury, while forwards Andray Blatche and Yi Jianlian were also out with knee injuries.

Yi remains out, Wall is listed as doubtful while Blatche is day-to-day and listed as questionable for tonight.

Miami has won eight of the past nine meetings in the series, including a 105-94 win in South Beach back on Nov. 29.
