Boykins paces Bucks over Kings
Dec 24, 2010 - 7:17 AM Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Earl Boykins scored 19 points off the bench as the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Sacramento Kings, 84-79, at ARCO Arena.Andrew Bogut scored 15 to go along with 13 rebounds and Keyon Dooling finished with 14 points and five assists for the Bucks, who won two straight to finish a three-game road trip 2-1.
Beno Udrih led the Kings with 17 points and Samuel Dalembert scored 13 and grabbed 12 rebounds for Sacramento, which has dropped seven straight.
Carl Landry, Donte Greene and Francisco Garcia each finished with nine points.
"I told our guys I'm proud of them for playing hard and I understand there are a lot of frustrations," said Kings head coach Paul Westphal. "Who wouldn't be frustrated at 5-22?"
Sacramento led 75-69 with 8:24 remaining after a Omri Casspi three-pointer, but a Bogut jumper started a 12-0 run that gave Milwaukee the lead for good.
Bogut made another jumper at and Boykins added a pullup shot that tied the game at 75. Luc Mbah a Moute gave Milwaukee the lead by making the back end of two foul shots with 5:30 remaining. He added a driving layup off another Greene miss to put the Bucks up 78-75.
Boykins hit another pullup shot to expand the Milwaukee lead to five, 80-75, and Bogut capped the run by hitting the first of two free throws with 2:53 remaining.
Sacramento trimmed the lead to four points twice, but both teams went cold down the stretch and Dooling made a free throw with 9.4 seconds left to account for the final margin.
"My teammates have confidence in me," said Boykins. "In the fourth quarter it's a lot easier when you're playing with guys that are willing to give you the ball and allow you to play."
The Kings held a 25-24 lead after a back-and-forth first quarter, and Milwaukee took a 43-39 lead at the half.
Landry and Udrih both netted eight points in the third quarter and Sacramento shot 43.5 percent from the field -- while holding a 17-6 rebounding margin -- to take a slim 64-62 lead into the fourth.
Game Notes
The Kings are 0-3 on a five-game homestand...Sacramento won the rebounding margin 57-37, but committed 25 turnovers to just 12 for Milwaukee...The Bucks scored 50 of their points in the paint, the Kings just 24...John Salmons scored 12 points and dished out six assists for Milwaukee.
