Streaking Magic resume homestand vs. Warriors

Jan 3, 2011 - 3:43 PM (Sports Network) - Just over two weeks since revamping their roster with a pair of blockbuster deals, the streaking Orlando Magic will resume a four-game homestand in search of their sixth straight win when they welcome the Golden State Warriors to central Florida.

The new-look Magic won the opener of the residency on Thursday when Dwight Howard posted 24 points and 18 rebounds to lead Orlando to a 112-103 victory over the slumping New York Knicks.

Howard grabbed nine offensive rebounds for the Magic, who have won five straight after losing their first two games after deals that brought Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu to the club on Dec. 18. Orlando received a combined 36 points from that trio in its fourth straight victory over New York.

"We're learning what each other can do, and we're passing the ball," Magic forward Ryan Anderson said. "We're just looking for each other's shots and creating openings."

The Magic, who are 12-5 at Amway Center, will finish their residency with games against Milwaukee and Houston.

The Warriors, meanwhile, fell to 1-2 on a five-game road trip Saturday in Miami when LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each scored 25, both with 16 in the second half, as the Heat rallied from a 20-point deficit in the second quarter to post a 114-107 win over Golden State.

Dorell Wright, who played for the Heat the first six years of his career, led the way with 30 points for the Warriors. Monta Ellis ended with 25 points and seven assists, but Golden State failed to build on its one-point win at Charlotte on Friday. Wright is averaging 26.8 points and shooting nearly 60.0 percent over the last four games.

"We knew they were going to make a run. Not only did they make a run but they did it with the clock stopped because of how many foul shots they took," Warriors big man David Lee, who finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds said. "They got more aggressive [on defense]. they trapped off the pick-and- rolls."

The Warriors, who are just 5-14 as the visitor on the year, will finish their trek in New Orleans on Wednesday.

Orlando has swept the home-and-home season series with Golden State in each of the past two seasons and has won six of seven overall versus the Warriors.
