Hawks resume road trip in Sacramento

Jan 4, 2011 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks will continue a four-game road trip tonight against the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena.

Atlanta is 1-1 on the excursion and recorded a 107-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday from Staples Center. Joe Johnson scored a team-high 29 points and Jamal Crawford finished with 24 points off the bench for the Hawks, who have won five of seven games overall and improved to 10-9 outside of Philips Arena this season.

"I told our guys at the half we have to go out and run more and we did that," Hawks head coach Larry Drew said. "We did a good job with our adjustments."

Josh Smith compiled 22 points and 10 rebounds in the win, as Atlanta rallied from 16 points down. The Hawks will also visit the Utah Jazz on the trek against teams from the Western Conference.

Atlanta is 6-6 against teams from the west this season.

Sacramento has won two of three games since an eight-game losing streak and will continue a three-game homestand Tuesday night.

The Kings opened the residency with Sunday's 94-89 victory over Phoenix behind a career-high 28 points from rookie DeMarcus Cousins. Francisco Garcia added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings, who pushed their home mark to 5-14 this season and overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit.

"It was a great team effort down the stretch," Cousins said of the Kings' 19-2 run down the stretch. "We played smart, played some great team defense, and we got a lot of stops."

Cousins also recorded eight rebounds, six assists, and one block, while Omri Casspi finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cousins is averaging 21.7 ppg in the last three contests after averaging 4.3 ppg in the previous three. Beno Udrih was held scoreless before leaving with a bruised left knee at the 8:26 mark of the third quarter. He is listed as questionable for tonight's game.

Sacramento will also entertain Denver in California's capital.

The Hawks and Kings are meeting for the first time since Atlanta swept a home- and-home series a year ago. Atlanta has won five straight overall in the series and back-to-back trips to ARCO Arena.
