Spurs aim to halt first losing streak in Indy vs. Pacers

Jan 7, 2011 - 4:26 PM (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs couldn't ask for a better opponent to rebound against, as they are set to invade Conseco Fieldhouse tonight to take on the homestanding Indiana Pacers.

The Spurs have won seven straight and 21 of the past 26 meetings with the Pacers and took the first encounter, 122-109, back on Oct. 27 this season in the Alamo City. They have also won three straight and 10 of 14 games in Indy.

San Antonio is still an NBA-best 29-6 on the season, but suffered a tough 105-103 loss in Boston on Wednesday. Spurs guard Manu Ginobili controlled the ball at the top of the key in the waning moments and his last-second shot was blocked by Celtics forward Paul Pierce.

Ginobili ended with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Tim Duncan and Tony Parker both scored 18 points for the Spurs, who lost at New York on Tuesday and have been beaten in consecutive games for the first time all season.

"It's just a tough back-to-back, obviously against a very good team. Boston is a tough one and they played great," Parker said. "We got our chance down the stretch...we had a chance to win the game and it didn't happen."

Richard Jefferson tallied 14 points in defeat. The Spurs are 0-2 on a three- game road trip and 10-4 outside the AT&T Center this season.

Indiana is coming off a 98-92 loss in New York, as Danny Granger turned in a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds for the Pacers, who have dropped four of their last five games.

"We shouldn't have won. We didn't shoot the ball to well, but they didn't shoot it particularly great either," Granger told NBA.com. "We didn't finish this one well."

Darren Collison scored 22 points in defeat. The Pacers will try to improve on their 9-8 home ledger tonight.
