Lowly Kings visit hapless Wizards

Jan 11, 2011 - 3:45 PM (Sports Network) - Two of the worst teams in the NBA tangle in the nation's capital tonight, as the Sacramento Kings attempt to stop a 10-game road losing streak against the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center.

The Kings' last win on the road was a 107-104 victory in Cleveland on Oct. 30 and they are just 2-11 away from Arco Arena this season. The road woes continued with Sunday's 118-112 loss in Toronto, as Beno Udrih had a team-best 25 points and Carl Landry added 22 off the bench in defeat.

"We got production from everybody that played and certainly shows what type of team we are trying to be," Kings head coach Paul Westphal said.

Jason Thompson ended with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while rookie DeMarcus Cousins registered 18 points and 10 boards for Sacramento, which has alternated wins and losses over its last seven games and opened a six-game road trip on a sour note. Sacramento scored a season-best 30 fastbreak points.

The Kings, who will also make stops in Boston, New York, Detroit and Atlanta, were without reigning Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans because of a sprained left ankle and he is questionable for tonight. The Kings are 1-2 without him this season. Jermaine Taylor made his first start in place of Evans and had four points, three rebounds and one assist.

Sacramento went 2-8 without the Philadelphia native a year ago.

Cousins is averaging 21.2 ppg in the last six games after averaging just 4.3 ppg in the previous three contests. He has netted 20 or more points four times in the last six games.

Meanwhile, the struggling Wizards fell to 0-18 on the road this season with a 104-89 loss in Charlotte on Saturday. Rookie John Wall had 16 points and 11 assists, Kirk Hinrich added 18 points and Al Thornton scored 13 for Washington, which has lost four of five and 14 of the last 17 games.

Rashard Lewis posted only four points and seven rebounds in a losing cause and is one steal shy of 1,000 for his career. Wall played in front of many family members, including his mother, and was grateful to compete in his home state of North Carolina.

"For them to see me on the last level you could reach, it meant a lot to me, especially if we could have came away with a win and our first road win," Wall told NBA.com. "We just have to keep working and finally get one. We don't want to go the whole season without one."

Wall leads all rookies in assists per game (8.8 apg) and is ranked second among all rookies in points per game (15.4 ppg). The Wizards are 9-8 in DC this year, but have dropped 19 in a row as the guest dating back to last season.

Sacramento defeated the Wizards, 116-91, back on Dec. 8 in California's capital, but has lost 10 of the past 15 matchups between the teams. The Kings are winless in their last five visits to the Verizon Center.
