Nets, Pacers clash at Conseco Fieldhouse
Jan 28, 2011 - 4:26 PM (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets hope to build on a solid homestand tonight when they visit a struggling Indiana Pacers team hoping to slam the brakes on its largest losing streak of the season. The Nets finished a 4-1 homestand on Wednesday when Devin Harris made two key free throws with 10.6 seconds left, as New Jersey rallied past the Memphis Grizzlies, 93-88.
Harris ended with 13 points and nine assists for the Nets, who have won two straight overall. Anthony Morrow tallied 19 points off the bench for New Jersey, which got 17 points from Brook Lopez.
"It was a full team effort tonight," Harris said. "The bench came in the second quarter and gave us a boost."
The Pacers, meanwhile, continued to struggle on Wednesday, dropping the opener of a two-game homestand to Orlando, 111-96.
Danny Granger had a game-best 27 points while Darren Collison poured in 21 points in that one for the Pacers, who suffered a sixth straight loss, their largest hiccup since dropping eight in a row from Dec. 18-30, 2009.
Mike Dunleavy and Paul George each had 10 points in the loss as Indiana gave up a franchise record 16 three-pointers.
"It's hard to beat a team that shoots 47 percent on their threes," Granger said. "We are missing assignments, defensively and offensively. We're sliding right now, and if we don't stop it soon, we'll be out of the playoff mix."
The Pacers are currently two games behind eighth-place Charlotte for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot.
New Jersey has lost four in a row and seven of eight against Indiana. The Nets are 5-10 in 15 trips to Indy.
