Wade's triple-double leads Heat over Bobcats

Feb 5, 2011 - 6:15 AM Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Dwyane Wade recorded his first triple-double of the season with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the Miami Heat used a strong fourth quarter to top Charlotte, 109-97, at Time Warner Cable Arena.

LeBron James added 19 points, nine assists and eight rebounds while Eddie House scored 16 points in a reserve role for Miami, which has won five straight.

"We got the defensive stops we needed in the fourth quarter," said Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra. "It still wasn't the type of sustained consistency that I look for, but we got them when we needed to."

Chris Bosh posted 14 points while both Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Mike Miller contributed 13 points for the Heat, who have won four in a row in this series.

Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson both finished with 25 points and Wallace added 10 rebounds for Charlotte, which has dropped three of four.

"Coming down the stretch we didn't have the mental toughness we needed," said Charlotte head coach Paul Silas. "I keep saying it's not there right now, but I know it's gonna get there."

House opened the fourth quarter with consecutive three-pointers to give Miami a 89-77 lead, and after Sherron Collins responded with a long-range basket of his own at 10:51, House added another triple 37 seconds later to give Miami a 92-80 cushion.

The Bobcats cut their deficit down to six, 94-88, on Wallace's three-pointer at 8:01, but Bosh then bookended a short 8-1 Miami run to put the game away for good. Bosh's turnaround jumper at 4:34 put the Heat up 102-89 and their lead never fell below nine down the stretch.

James and Ilgauskas each scored 11 in the first quarter, and the Heat took a 29-26 lead after the opening 12 minutes. In the second quarter it was Wade stepping up with 11 points, but the Bobcats shot 62.5 percent from the field to keep the Miami lead at 59-55 entering the break.

The Heat opened the third quarter with a James jumper and Wade three-pointer to widen their lead to nine. The Bobcats then responded, and after a Boris Diaw tip-in at the six minute mark their deficit was down to three, 69-66. Charlotte kept it close down the stretch as Miami took an 83-77 lead into the final stanza.

Gerald Henderson scored 14 points in a reserve role for Charlotte...The Heat are now 18-9 on the road this season...The Bobcats committed 16 turnovers that Miami turned into 31 points.
