Nuggets aim to continue reign over Wolves

Feb 5, 2011 - 4:02 PM (Sports Network) - The Denver Nuggets will try and continue their dominance over the Minnesota Timberwolves when the two Northwest Division inhabitants collide this evening in the Twin Cities.

Denver has won four in a row and 17 of the last 20 meetings with the Wolves, including a pair of matchups this season. The Nuggets are unbeaten in their last seven trips to the Target Center.

The Nuggets have lost three of their last four games and suffered a 113-106 setback versus the Utah Jazz on Friday night. Carmelo Anthony had 31 points and six rebounds, while Nene tallied 28 points and five boards for Denver, which failed to overcome Utah's return of star guard Deron Williams. Williams had 26 points and 12 assists after missing four games with a wrist ailment.

Chauncey Billups had 13 points and could see that the Jazz are a different team when Williams is on the floor.

"He sets the table for everybody," Billups said of Williams. "They're a different team without him."

Denver is 8-15 as the guest this season and has lost two in a row on the road.

Minnesota has lost two straight and 13 of 15 games, including Friday's 111-100 loss to the lowly Toronto Raptors. The Raptors were able to end a 13-game losing streak in the process.

Kevin Love, who was named a reserve on the Western Conference All-Star team during the game, recorded his 35th straight double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. Sebastian Telfair had 16 points off the bench and both Darko Milicic and Corey Brewer scored 15 points for the Timberwolves, who lost forward Michael Beasley in the second quarter with an ankle injury.

"We've all got to step it up because he's a big scoring punch for us," Love said of Beasley. "To lose him is really tough."

Wesley Johnson had 10 points in defeat. Beasley could miss Saturday's game versus the Nuggets.
