Jackson scores 30, Bobcats top Kings

Feb 26, 2011 - 4:27 AM Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Stephen Jackson finished with a game-high 30 points on 11-of-19 from the field, and the Bobcats handled the Kings despite a shorthanded roster, 110-98, at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Charlotte only dressed eight players due to a pair of deadline trades and a rash of recent injuries, but had five scorers in double figures.

"I'm ecstatic," Bobcats coach Paul Silas said. "The way we started the game off and the way we ended it was phenomenal. They played so hard and so well, guys really stepped up."

D.J. Augustin added 23 points while Gerald Henderson scored 21 for the Bobcats, who have won three straight at home and four of five overall.

"It was a great win knowing we only had eight guys," Henderson said. "We played hard and really helped each other out."

Kwame Brown posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds and Shaun Livingston added 10 points in a reserve role for Charlotte, which won its sixth straight game against the Kings.

Samuel Dalembert led Sacramento with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a reserve role while the newly-acquired Marcus Thornton added 14 points in his first game since being traded from the Hornets on Wednesday.

DeMarcus Cousins added 13 points and 10 boards and Jason Thompson scored 10 with a team-high 13 rebounds in the loss, Sacramento's fourth in five games.

"Same old story," Beno Udrih said. "We started turning the ball over, it's hard to win then you turn the ball over 18 times. We have to take care of the ball much more."

Leading 78-73 entering the fourth, the Bobcats were able to expand their cushion to double digits with 8:28 left after Henderson's layup moved the score to 90-79.

The Charlotte lead reached a game-high 16, 107-91, on a Jackson layup with just over two minutes remaining.

Cousins paced the Kings with 11 points in the first as both team's shot above 50 percent from the field in the quarter. The Kings held a slim 30-28 lead after the opening 12 minutes.

The Kings came out flat in the second quarter -- shooting 27.3 percent from the field -- and the Bobcats closed the half on a 13-4 run, capped by a Jackson layup with 36 seconds remaining, to take a 52-44 lead into the locker room. Jackson led the Bobcats with nine points on 3-of-6 from the field in the quarter.

The Bobcats widened their lead to as high as 11, 55-44, in the opening minute of the third. However, the Kings slowly chipped away, and after Dalembert's dunk just over the seven minute mark the game was tied at 59. It remained close down the stretch and Charlotte held a slim lead entering the final stanza.

The Bobcats are 16-14 at home this season and 17-13 under Silas...Charlotte scored 25 points off 18 Sacramento turnovers...Jermaine Taylor ended with 12 points while Udrih added 11 points and 13 assists in the loss. Both Omri Casspi and Jason Thompson added 10 points for Sacramento. Thompson also had 13 rebounds...The Kings are now 2-4 on a seven-game road trip that will conclude in Memphis on Saturday...Sacramento is 7-20 on the road this season...The Kings played without guard Tyreke Evans (plantar fasciitis) and forward Francisco Garcia (left calf strain)...Sacramento was 19-of-21 from the free throw line.
