Raptors, Jazz tangle at ACC

Mar 9, 2011 - 4:04 PM (Sports Network) - The Utah Jazz will resume a four-game road trip Wednesday with a showdown against the Toronto Raptors from Air Canada Centre.

Utah got the trek off to a poor start with Monday's 131-109 blowout loss to the New York Knicks, as Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire finished with 34 and 31 points, respectively, to lead the charge.

Al Jefferson led the Jazz with 36 points and 12 rebounds, while Derrick Favors had 16 points and C.J. Miles 12 for Utah, which has lost nine of its last 11 games and fell to 15-16 away from Salt Lake City.

"You let them get going ... they're going to try to kill you," Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin said of the Knicks. "They had a lot of success tonight."

Surprisingly, Corbin's squad is 2 1/2 games off the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Jazz will also visit Minnesota and Chicago on the current road swing.

Paul Millsap (knee) is questionable for tonight and Andrei Kirilenko is listed as doubtful with back spasms. Millsap and Kirilenko both had four points in New York.

Toronto will commence a three-game homestand this evening versus the Jazz, Pacers and Bobcats, and is 12-20 up north this season. It is back in the United State after dropping both tests with the New Jersey Nets at O2 Arena in London, England.

In Sunday's 137-136 loss in triple-overtime, Andrea Bargnani led Toronto with 35 points and 12 rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan netted 30 points and Leandro Barbosa 22 for the Raptors, who lost for the ninth time in 12 tries.

"This was a great game for our guys to play in," Raptors coach Jay Triano said after the longest game in team history. "Any time we can put our guys in a situation where there is a chance to win a game on the last possession, this is part of the growth we are looking for."

Ed Davis added 12 points and a team-best 15 rebounds in defeat. The game took 3 hours, 22 minutes to complete. The Raptors hope to have forward Reggie Evans back in the lineup tonight, as he's expected to return to the hardwood for first time since Nov. 26 at Boston. Evans underwent right foot surgery to repair the problem, missing 47 games.

Bargnani is questionable as well with an illness and is averaging 24.4 points in his last five games.

Utah handed the Raptors a 125-108 loss in Salt Lake City back on Nov. 3, as Deron Williams contributed 22 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds in that one. Jefferson helped the cause with 27 points for Utah, which has won 11 straight in the series and 15 of the past 18 matchups between the teams.

The Jazz have won five straight and 10 of the 14 meetings at Toronto.
