Clippers clash with Nets at The Rock

Mar 11, 2011 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - Coming off a huge win in Boston, the streaking Los Angeles Clippers aim for their fifth straight victory tonight in the continuation of a five-game road trip against the New Jersey Nets from the Prudential Center.

Los Angeles posted a 108-103 win over the East's top team, the Celtics, on Wednesday at TD Garden behind 28 points from Mo Williams. DeAndre Jordan had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Clippers, who are unbeaten this month since losing five in a row to close out February.

"For some reason I just love the battles I've had in the past with Boston," said Williams, a former Cavalier. "I always get up for this game, I was up for this game today. I wouldn't say it's a playoff feeling, but to play those guys, I didn't even take a nap today so I was ready to play."

Blake Griffin and Ryan Gomes each had 12 points in the triumph. Los Angeles improved to just 7-25 on the road and will also make stops in Washington and Memphis.

Griffin is one double-double away of matching Elton Brand's Los Angeles record of 55 established during the 2001-02 season. Bob McAdoo holds the franchise record with 69 double-doubles set in 1974-75, when the franchise was formerly known as the Buffalo Braves. Griffin passed the 53 double-doubles mark set by Michael Cage in 1986-87.

Williams is averaging 19.0 points, 6.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 34.8 minutes since joining the Clippers in a trade with Cleveland. The Clippers are 4-1 with him in the starting lineup.

The Nets are in the midst of playing seven consecutive games as the host and have won three in a row since a six-game slide, including Wednesdays 94-90 victory over Golden State.

Brook Lopez had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Morrow netted 22 points for New Jersey, which has won three in a row for the first time since a four- game run from Jan. 31 - Feb. 7, 2009. Kris Humphries had 11 points and 15 rebounds in the win.

"I think we played tough," said Sasha Vujacic, who had 16 points. "We knew we had to win. Our guys were terrific."

All-Star guard Deron Williams missed the game due to the birth of his fourth child and is not expected to play tonight. The Nets will also welcome the Celtics and Bulls to town and are 16-16 as the host this season.

The Nets won the first meeting with the Clippers, 110-96, on Nov. 15 at Staples Center thanks to 24 points from Lopez.

LA has lost two straight and 16 of 19 games at the Nets.
