Hot-shooting Johnson, Hawks rout Bucks

Mar 16, 2011 - 3:16 AM Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Joe Johnson made a season-high six three- pointers en route to 36 points, as the Atlanta Hawks dominated the Milwaukee Bucks, 110-85.

Johnson went 13-of-19 from the field and also pulled down five rebounds for the Hawks, who have won two in a row. Josh Smith tallied 17 points and 14 boards.

Marvin Williams and Al Horford donated 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Atlanta, which shot a season-high 63 percent from the field.

"I had my legs under me," Johnson said. "It was just a feeling. I was just letting it go. I was making quick moves in the post. You get a couple easy baskets, and the basket starts to open up a little bit."

Andrew Bogut finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Bucks, who were coming off an embarrassing 87-56 loss to the Celtics on Sunday. Carlos Delfino and Corey Maggette added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The Hawks took control of the game late in the first quarter. With the score tied at 17-17 with 3:18 left, Atlanta scored the final 11 points of the frame. Smith bookended the burst with an alley-oop slam and jumper to make it a 28-17 game.

Johnson and Smith tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the first stanza for Atlanta, which shot 60 percent from the field.

The Hawks put on an even better performance from the field in the second quarter. Johnson caught fire in the stanza, making five shots from beyond the arc en route to 17 points. Johnson's three-point barrage and Atlanta's 62.5 percent shooting performance made it a 55-39 game at the half.

Atlanta continued to light it up in the third, as the home team led by as many as 29 in the frame. A 61.9 percent performance from the floor led to an 84-55 margin after three periods.

"We had trouble getting back on defense early in the game, and we looked a little bit tired," Bucks head coach Scott Skiles said. "We tried to put fresher bodies in there, but that didn't work. It was just one of those games where we didn't play very well."
