Orlando heads north of the border to face Raptors

Apr 3, 2011 - 2:56 PM (Sports Network) - The banged-up Orlando Magic take their act north of the border Sunday when they square off with the lowly Toronto Raptors.

The Magic arrive in Canada with just nine healthy players for the third straight contest.

Despite being shorthanded, Orlando won for the sixth time in eight tries on Friday when Dwight Howard powered his way to 26 points and 14 rebounds, as the Magic earned an 89-77 win over the playoff-hopeful Charlotte Bobcats in central Florida.

Howard went 10-of-14 from the floor for the Magic, who are entrenched in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference, four games in front of Atlanta but 4 1/2 behind Boston for the third seed.

"You want to finish the season on a good note, but at the same time we want to make sure we get our rest," Howard said. "We don't have a lot of guys out there, so we've got to play hard."

Jameer Nelson chipped in 15 points and six assists, while Quentin Richardson totaled 14 points in a reserve role, as Orlando snapped a two-game skid.

Gilbert Arenas (illness), Chris Duhon (sprained right thumb) and J.J. Redick (lower abdominal strain) are all on the sidelines for Orlando.

The Raptors, meanwhile, are just playing out the string and dropped their sixth in a row on Saturday in Chicago when Derrick Rose scored 36 points and dished out 10 assists, as the Bulls solidified their hold atop the Eastern Conference with a 113-106 win over Toronto.

DeMar DeRozan and Jerryd Bayless, starting in place of the injured Jose Calderon, each had 26 points for Toronto, which lost its sixth in a row.

Rookie Ed Davis finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the loss, while teammate Leandro Barbosa scored 18.

"He's being an overall great player and that's what an MVP is. I think he should be it and I can't speak highly enough about him," Bayless said of Rose.

Orlando snapped a two-game skid to Toronto with a 112-72 rout in the Magic Kingdom back in January.
