Knicks drop Raptors for 4th straight win

Apr 6, 2011 - 3:36 AM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Toney Douglas scored a team-high 28 points off the bench, as the New York Knicks led from start to finish and earned a 131-118 win over the Toronto Raptors at Madison Square Garden.

Carmelo Anthony went for 23 points and nine rebounds, while Amare Stoudemire ended with 23 points, six boards and five assists for the Knicks, who have won four straight after a six-game slide. New York moved to within a half-game of Philadelphia for the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers lost at Boston on Tuesday.

"Overall, not bad, the ball movement was good," Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni said about the offense.

DeMar DeRozan led all scorers with 36 points and added 10 boards for Toronto, which has dropped seven of eight. Ed Davis had 22 points and 13 rebounds in a reserve role, while Jerryd Bayless netted 19 before fouling out.

Anthony scored 11 points in the opening quarter to help the Knicks grab a 39- 26 lead after 12 minutes of action, and New York didn't let up in the second.

Douglas and Bill Walker each hit a three to bookend a 10-1 run to start the quarter and build a 49-27 edge, and the hosts controlled the pace from there, taking a comfortable 78-54 lead into the intermission.

New York held a 99-82 lead after three quarters and never let its advantage dip below double-figures in the fourth.

New York swept the series for the first time since Toronto's inaugural NBA season in 1995-96...Toronto guard Jose Calderon (strained left hamstring) missed the contest.
