Knicks win sixth straight, top lowly Nets
Apr 9, 2011 - 3:59 AM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to pace the playoff-bound New York Knicks over the New Jersey Nets, 116-93.Chauncey Billups added 22 points for the Knicks, who remained a half-game ahead of the Sixers for the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Toney Douglas, Shawne Williams and Bill Walker each donated 10 points for New York, which has won six in a row.
The Knicks were without forward Amare Stoudemire (sprained left ankle).
"I'm not used to getting cheers on the road. It's been great." Anthony said.
Brook Lopez finished with 27 points for the Nets, who have lost two in a row and 12 of 14 overall. Sasha Vujacic and Stephen Graham tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Knicks led 36-31 after 12 minutes and took over in the second quarter.
Ahead 59-49 with under three minutes to go until half, New York went on a 9-2 flurry. Anthony, who had a double-double in the first half, tallied seven points during the stretch, including a three-pointer to give the Knicks a 68-51 margin at the break.
New York scored the first three points of the third to build a 20-point cushion. The Knicks ended the period strong too, going on a 12-0 run to take a 96-72 lead.
The Knicks cruised to victory in the fourth, leading by as many as 28.
"No excuses," Nets head coach Avery Johnson said. "Our guys have to play a little bit harder, a little bit smarter. They are trying but this wasn't one of their better nights."

The Knicks took all four games from the Nets this season to sweep the series for the first time since the 1998-99 campaign (3-0)...New Jersey guard Deron Williams will miss the remainder of the season because of a wrist injury that will require surgery...Anthony has scored 20 or more points in 11 straight games...Nets forward Kris Humphries (ankle/heel) and guard Anthony Morrow (knee) missed the game...New York went 15-of-36 from three-point range.
