Warriors put win streak on the line vs. Kings

Apr 10, 2011 - 3:06 PM (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors are out of the playoffs for a fourth straight year, but that hasn't stopped them from stringing together a few victories. They'll shoot for a fourth straight win tonight against the Pacific Division-rival Sacramento Kings from Oracle Arena.

The Warriors recorded their third win in a row with Wednesday's 95-87 triumph over the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in the Bay Area, as Monta Ellis led the way with 26 points and David Lee muscled his way to 22 points and 17 rebounds for Golden State, winners in five of seven contests.

Stephen Curry finished with 20 points in the win. The Warriors managed to come out on top despite shooting 38.7 percent from the floor.

"We're just playing well," Curry said. "Right now it's clicking."

Golden State has won four straight in Oakland and is 25-14 as the host this season. It will visit Denver on Monday before welcoming Portland to town two nights later for the season finale. Ellis has scored 20-plus points in 38 of the past 52 games, while Lee owns 13 double-doubles over the previous 23.

Sacramento is playing out the string and hasn't reached the postseason since the 2005-06 campaign. It will close out a four-game road trip Sunday and is 1-2 on the swing.

In Friday's 101-96 loss at Memphis -- Sacramento's second straight and fourth in six tries -- Marcus Thornton posted 18 points and Samuel Dalembert did his best to will his team to victory with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Reigning Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans ended with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Kings, who are 12-28 away from California's capital.

"I was very proud of how our team played," Kings coach Paul Westphal said. "We had a great chance to win, especially down the stretch in the final seconds. It didn't go our way."

Thornton has scored in double-figures in 22 of 24 games since joining the Kings before the trade deadline. Evans is averaging 15.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 6.0 apg in the last nine games after missing the previous 19 because of a bout with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Sacramento will close out the 2010-11 season with back-to-back home games versus the Thunder and Lakers. It has dropped two of three meetings with the Warriors this season and is 3-6 in the past nine contests in this series.

The Kings are winless in four straight trips to Oakland and 3-12 in the last 15 matchups at the Warriors.
