Warriors seek first road win vs. Pistons

Jan 15, 2012 - 3:34 PM (Sports Network) - Detroit hopes to build on its first win in nearly two weeks when it hosts a struggling Golden State Warriors club at The Palace.

The Pistons snapped a six-game skid on Friday in Charlotte when Jonas Jerebko scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds as Detroit routed the Bobcats 98-81.

Greg Monroe, who had 32 points and 16 rebounds in Thursday's loss to the Bucks, finished with 19 and nine in Charlotte. Ben Gordon chipped in 14 points, six rebounds and five assists, while rookie Brandon Knight had 13 points and 10 boards.

"It's a little bit of a relief, but we look at it as an opportunity to build, an opportunity to get better," Knight said of the win.

The Warriors, meanwhile, remained winless on the road Saturday, falling to those same Bobcats in the opener of a four-game road trip, 112-100.

Rookie Kemba Walker, making his first NBA start, scored 23 points for Charlotte with five coming after the Warriors pulled within two possessions down the stretch.

David Lee led Golden State with 24 points and 16 rebounds but Monta Ellis shot a woeful 6-for-26 from the field for 18 points as the Warriors fell to 3-8 on the young season, including an 0-4 mark as the visitors.

Nate Robinson had 12 points, as did teammate Dorell Wright, who came in questionable with a bruised knee.

"This is the first time I've been embarrassed watching our performance. It can not and will not be tolerated," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said. "That being said, we will bounce back."

Golden State, which has lost seven of eight overall, continues to play without its starting center Kwame Brown, who remains on the shelf with a torn pectoral muscle, as well as star guard Stephen Curry, who is sidelined with a sprained right ankle.

The Warriors will finish their trek with visits to Cleveland and New Jersey.

These two clubs split the home-and-home series a year ago with each team holding serve on its home floor. Detroit has dominated Golden State in The Palace, however, winning four straight and 15 of the last 16 between the two teams.
