Streaking Magic open residency against Bobcats
Jan 17, 2012 - 3:38 PM (Sports Network) - The Orlando Magic return home after a perfect road trip this evening and will host the Charlotte Bobcats in the first of three straight games at the Amway Center.Orlando concluded its perfect trek on Monday in New York, as Ryan Anderson made seven three-pointers en route to a career-high 30 points in the Magic's 102-93 win over the Knicks.
Hedo Turkoglu made four shots from beyond the arc and ended with 15 points for the Magic, who were 4-0 on the trip. J.J. Redick tallied 21 points.
"I wasn't feeling very good before the game, but I just went out and played and I think the adrenaline takes over and you know, I've done it before, played sick before," Anderson said.
Dwight Howard was limited to eight points and 10 rebounds. He had 45 points, 23 boards and went to the foul line an NBA record 39 times during Thursday's win over Golden State.
"He's getting double and triple-teamed at some points," Anderson said."He's doing a great job keeping composure, being patient, finding guys on the perimeter, and we ?re moving the ball and that?s why we got open shots tonight, just because of him."
Howard figures to get back on track tonight, as he has averaged double- doubles (21.5 points, 15.1 rebounds) in all 14 regular season home contests against the Bobcats.
Charlotte, meanwhile, failed to follow up a win over Golden State on Saturday with a loss to Cleveland on Monday, falling 102-94.
D.J. Augustin ended with 24 points and eight assists for the Bobcats, who fell to 3-11 on the season. Gerald Henderson and D.J. White donated 17 and 15 points, respectively, for Charlotte, which led by 14 in the third quarter.
"That first quarter we came out with tons of energy; we're pushing the ball and driving it and making the right passes and we knocked down shots too," Henderson said. "Energy is going to be the key for us, so we need to keep that up."
It was the seventh loss in the last eight games for the Bobcats, who are a miserable 3-11 on the season.
Charlotte's struggles could continue tonight in Orlando, where they have lost four in a row. The Bobcats have also dropped five straight and 12 of their last 13 overall to the Magic.
