Nets leave comforts of home in trip to Philly

Apr 5, 2014 - 2:39 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Brooklyn Nets already punched a ticket to the postseason and still have their sights set on a division title.

The Nets will continue their strong push toward the postseason Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center and are 2 1/2 games behind the Toronto Raptors for the Atlantic Division lead with seven to go.

Brooklyn is coming off a solid performance in Friday's 116-104 triumph versus the Detroit Pistons and shot 60.5 percent from the field. It made 15-of-31 3- pointers, six of which from Mirza Teletovic (6-of-10), and was led by Shaun Livingston's 23 points. Teletovic scored 20 points, Paul Pierce added 17 and Marcus Thornton ended with 15 points.

The win was Brooklyn's 15th in a row at Barclays Center.

"We're just comfortable in our own building," Pierce said of the Nets' success at home. "Obviously, that's where most teams in the league play well. You have momentum, you have your own crowd, you have a better feel for spots on the court and this is where you're comfortable."

Now the Nets will play three straight on the road against Philadelphia, Miami and Orlando, and have lost three straight as the visitor. The Nets, winners in eight of the past 11 games, have a 14-23 record outside of their comfort zone.

Philadelphia is 1-2 since ending a 26-game losing streak versus Detroit on March 29 and is coming off Friday's 111-102 victory at Boston.

Sixers Rookie of the Year candidate Michael Carter-Williams scored 24 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists. Henry Sims made 14-of-18 free throws en route to 24 points as well for the 76ers, who made 51 percent from the floor, but were outrebounded 49-34.

"I'm just so proud of their ability to play as a team and continue to do the right thing and have a true desire to get better," said Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown.

Thaddeus Young and Elliot Williams scored 15 points apiece in the win.

The 76ers are only 9-30 at home this season and will start a three-game road trip next week against Toronto, Memphis and Charlotte.

Philadelphia has lost two of three meetings with Brooklyn this season and six of nine matchups overall in this series.
