Blazers conclude homestand versus Magic

Jan 10, 2015 - 3:20 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Portland Trail Blazers will try to finish off their homestand on a high note Saturday when the Orlando Magic stop by the Moda Center.

The Blazers are 5-1 on the seven-game residency and have won two in a row.

On Monday, Portland bested the Los Angeles Lakers, then on Thursday, the Blazers buried the Miami Heat, 99-83.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 24 points and 12 rebounds to the Blazers. Wesley Matthews netted 18 points and Damian Lillard added 16 for the Blazers, who have won six of their last seven games.

The Heat led 48-43 at the break, but the Blazers began the third quarter on a 17-3 run to seize control.

Chris Kaman netted six consecutive points during the burst, which was capped on Aldridge's putback layup for a 60-51 Portland advantage midway through the frame.

Dorell Wright made a jumper at the third-quarter buzzer to stake the Blazers to a 76-64 margin going into the fourth.

Portland outscored Miami 33-16 in the third.

"We started to get some stops," Lillard said of the third quarter. "The crowd got into it and the game just changed."

The Magic will continue a four-game road trip and have lost at Denver and Los Angeles (Lakers) so far.

Orlando was dealt a 101-84 defeat at the hands of the Lakers Friday night, as Victor Oladipo and Tobias Harris scored 17 and 15 points, respectively. Nikola Vucevic recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Los Angeles dominated the boards to the tune of 60-36, including 18 offensive rebounds. The Magic had four offensive boards.

"Rebounding hurt us," said Magic coach Jacque Vaughn. "When you score 84 points it's a tough life to live. Putting the ball in the basket has been tough for us. We still have a problem with playing each possession."

The Magic, losers in five straight overall, are 9-14 on the road and will close the trek Monday at Chicago.

Orlando and Portland will play the first of two matchups this season and are slated to meet again March 20 in central Florida. The Magic and Blazers split a pair of contests in 2013-14.

Portland has won two straight and four of the last five as the host against Orlando.
