Pistons visit Pacers in Central clash

Feb 4, 2015 - 2:34 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons will try to stop a four-game road losing streak Wednesday against the Central-rival Indiana Pacers.

The Pistons are 10-14 as the guest and are coming off back-to-back home wins over the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat. In Tuesday's 108-91 besting of the Heat, D.J. Augustin led six players in double figures with 25 points and handed out 13 assists.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope posted 18 points, Andre Drummond recorded 14 to go along with 14 rebounds, and Kyle Singler scored 13 points. Greg Monroe contributed 12 points and nine boards for the Pistons, who set the tone with a 33-12 lead after the first quarter and scored 32 points in the third.

"The last seven minutes of the first quarter were as well as we've played all year," Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy said. "That's really where the game was decided."

Detroit had a 45-35 advantage in rebounds and shot 47.7 percent for the game. It scored 20 points off 10 Miami turnovers and is unbeaten since losing four in a row.

The Pistons will host Denver and Minnesota after their trip to Indy.

Indiana will resume a five-game homestand Wednesday and fell to 1-2 on the residency following a 99-94 setback to the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

The Kings scored 34 points in the first 12 minutes and had a 64-50 lead at halftime. Both teams struggled to make shots in the third quarter before the visitors pulled away in the fourth.

Rudy Gay led the Kings with 31 points, Darren Collison scored 23 and DeMarcus Cousins muscled his way to 20 points and 19 rebounds.

David West and C.J. Miles scored 17 points apiece to lead the Pacers, while George Hill and Luis Scola scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Pacers, who made only 5-of-25 3-pointers and lost for the ninth time in the last 11 tries.

Sacramento made 26-of-29 foul shots with Gay hitting all 11 of his.

"The plan was not to send them to the free throw line," said Pacers coach Frank Vogel. "We weren't very disciplined with our hands and our body position ... that combined with turning the ball over a little too much in the first half put us in a deep hole that we couldn't recover from."

The Pacers are 9-13 at home and will close the stay Friday versus LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Indiana has lost the first two meetings with Detroit and the division foes will meet again April 10 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The Pacers are 8-3 over the last 11 games against Detroit.

Indiana is 11-2 in its last 13 as the host in this series.
