Jazz try to get back on track with T-wolves in town

Mar 23, 2015 - 2:14 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Utah Jazz will try to get back on track when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves at EnergySolutions Arena Monday night.

The Jazz have lost two of their last three games after winning six straight and dropped a 106-91 decision to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

Derrick Favors recorded 21 points and 11 boards for Utah, which shot 43.8 percent and turned the ball over 16 times. Trey Burke scored 20 points and Rodney Hood netted 19 in defeat.

"That's a good team, they made some big shots," Burke said.

Utah will also host Portland on this quick homestand and has a 17-17 record in Salt Lake City this season.

The Jazz are 8 1/2 games out of the eighth seed in the West.

Minnesota is coming off Sunday's 109-98 setback to the Charlotte Hornets, as Gorgui Dieng led seven players in double figures with 16 points. Kevin Martin scored 15, Andrew Wiggins and Adreian Payne both had 13 points and Zach LaVine and Gary Neal posted 11 apiece.

Chase Budinger added 10 points for the Timberwolves, who dressed only eight players due to a myriad of injuries.

The Timberwolves shot 60.0 percent from the field in the first half and led 59-54 at the break. They were ahead by as many as 13 late in the second quarter before the Hornets ended the half on a 10-2 run.

"We didn't come out (in the second half) with the same energy, the same pace," Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders said.

The T-wolves have lost 11 of their last 13 games and are 6-28 on the road. They are scheduled to host the LA Lakers on Wednesday.

Minnesota is 0-2 against the Northwest-rival Jazz this season and the two teams will meet against March 30 in the Twin Cities.

Utah has won three in a row and eight of the last 11 games in this series.
