Iverson expected back in lineup as Pistons host Blazers

Nov 30, 2008 - 7:48 AM Portland (11-6) at Detroit (10-5) 3:00 pm. EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Allen Iverson has made his feelings about practice clear in the past - things apparently have changed.

The mercurial guard, who recently was benched for missing practice, is expected to be back in the lineup on Sunday when the Detroit Pistons host the Portland Trail Blazers.

Iverson, who famously went on a rant about the insignificance of practice when he was with Philadelphia in 2002, missed a mandatory Thanksgiving Day practice and was relegated to a reserve role in a 107-97 win over Milwaukee on Friday.

"The Answer" still managed a team-high 17 points and seven assists in 27 minutes. Iverson apologized and will look to help the Pistons put an end to the Trail Blazers' three-game winning streak.

He is averaging 18.4 points and 5.6 assists in 11 games with Detroit since being acquired from Denver on November 3.

Portland is off to its best start since it opened the season by winning 12 of its first 18 games. The Trail Blazers got 25 points and 10 assists from Brandon Roy in a 101-86 win over New Orleans on Friday.
