Stumbling Blazers look to bounce back vs. Clippers

Dec 12, 2008 - 11:21 AM LA Clippers (4-17) at Portland (15-9) 10:00 p.m. EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers appear to have hit a rough patch. How they climb out of it could determine how the rest of the season will look for the young squad.

The Blazers will try to avoid their first three-game losing streak when they host the lowly Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

Since having its six-game winning streak snapped at Boston on December 5, Portland has dropped three of four, including suffering its first home loss of the season against Orlando on Tuesday when Hedo Turkoglu banked in a 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds remaining to give the Magic a 109-108 win.

The Blazers followed that setback with a 97-88 loss at Utah on Thursday, failing to score at least 90 points for only the second time since November 15.

Brandon Roy scored a game-high 33 points against the Jazz and LaMarcus Aldridge added 22 but no one else managed more than 10.

Portland has played seven games in the last 13 days - six on the road.

Unlike the Blazers, the Clippers are coming off a nice layoff, having not played since suffering a 95-88 loss against Orlando on Monday. Baron Davis led the way with 27 points, marking his third straight game of at least 23 points.

Even more consistent than Davis when it comes to scoring has been Zach Randolph, who has poured at least 21 points in all six games since moving into the starting lineup on November 29.
