Without Brand, Sixers visit Wizards
Dec 19, 2008 - 2:03 PM Philadelphia (11-14) at Washington (4-19), 7:00 pm ESTWASHINGTON (Ticker) -- A season that began with high expectations is beginning to look a bit murky for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Philadelphia will be without the services of Elton Brand when it visits the Washington Wizards on Friday.
The 76ers got off to a 9-14 start, which cost coach Maurice Cheeks his job. Under interim coach Tony DiLeo, Philadelphia has won two straight, but the team lost Brand for one month with a dislocated right shoulder in Wednesday's 93-88 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Brand was leading the team in scoring at 15.9 points per game. Andre Miller is averaging 15.3 points and 5.9 assists.
Washington has dropped four straight games and has not been close in any of them, losing by an average of 20.8 points.
Recently acquired point guard Mike James scored 16 points to lead the Wizards in their 88-74 setback to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
Philadelphia won the last meeting at home against Washington, 104-89, last Saturday.
